Slide 3 Church of the Holy Comforter

Growing in Faith

We believe that Christian formation and education is a life-long journey of faith. Here you will find opportunities to deepen your fellowship with other seekers as well as deepen your own faith; opportunities that are available for the youngest to the oldest person; for those who are just beginning to explore Christianity as well as for those who are life-long Christians.

Classes are held from 9:15am–10:15am Sundays from September through May. There are other special offerings throughout the year. Our nursery is available year round. Unless indicated, all classes can be found on the lower level.

Nursery

Church Nursery

Children are always welcome in our worship service; however, some parents prefer to take advantage of the nursery. A nursery is provided for our service for infants and children up to age five. Upon check-in, nursery parents are given noiseless pagers in case their children require their attention. Our staff are professional day care workers. Each Sunday, worship bulletins created especially for children that relate to the Bible readings for the day are available. Soft toys and crayons are also available in the toy box by the prayer lectern at the back of the church. Nurseries are also made available for mid-week offerings and special events, as needed.

Pre-School

Pre-school Blast 1

Our preschool children gather in a room prepared especially for their interests and age level. In this class they explore stories of faith using colorful illustrations and hands-on activities. The curriculum is designed to bridge between the nursery and our BLAST program. Our teachers in the Preschool room provide a nurturing environment where children have opportunities to share, grow, and make friends while experiencing God's love and teachings. Join us each Sunday at 9:15 on the lower level.

Elementary

Children

Our Elementary Children participate in BLAST, which stands for Bible Learning Adventure Stations. Using the model of rotational ministry, we offer a variety of ways for children to experience God's love and teachings through hands-on and engaging activities such as art, music, drama, science, technology, games, and cooking. Classes are structured to begin with a gathering time that includes all ages, and then divide into smaller groups for rotational learning. The smaller groups are K-2nd and 3rd-5th. Join us each Sunday at 9:15 on the lower level for an explosion of faith in BLAST!

Middle School

This is a group designed especially for middle school kids. At this age children are becoming more concerned with acceptance and fitting in with peer groups. Many outside influences can become challenging for our middle school children. In this class we have relevant conversations that help to make connections between the real world and the teachings of the Bible. We talk about what it means to be a disciple of Christ. Our children love using a variety of media such as video clips from popular movies, "clean" lyrics from today?s music, and social topics as a springboard for learning and growing in their faith. We meet each Sunday at 9:15 on the lower level.

Youth

Our youth group is for middle and high school students and meets Sunday evenings from 5pm-7pm to connect with one another and with Jesus Christ. Special trips are held throughout the year from skiing to zip lining. Once a month they meet with other young Episcopalians for Cornerstone at the Epicenter (Episcopal youth center at 1337 Flowing Wells Rd., Augusta). Mission and service opportunities are available.
